The Walled Garden At Beeston Fields Wedding Photography - Mairéad and George’s Wedding

Mairéad and George’s big day brought back a few memories of my own wedding. It was held at St Barnabas Cathedral in Nottingham where I myself got married just over a decade ago. It was a great day back then ( gotta say that - my wife might read this!) and was another great day to be back as a Nottingham wedding photographer.

Wedding Preparations

I started the day over in Hucknall, beginning with George’s groom prep at the couple’s home. It was then a short trip around the corner to Mairéad’s mum’s house where the bridal preparations were in full swing.

The Walled Garden

After the ceremony at St Barnabas it was onto the Walled Garden at Beeston Fields. Now the Walled Garden is a bit of a rags to riches story. The original Victorian walled garden is hidden behind a Beeston Fields country home built in 1837. As years passed it was left locked away, overgrown and overlooked. However in 2011 it was completely restored to its former glory. The beautiful gardens now play host to beautiful weddings with couples having the choice of a few different licenced areas for their ceremony. Firstly the loggia, a converted old greenhouse adorned with rambling roses and flowerbeds. Then a fabulous bandstand situated in the heart of the garden. Lastly, a traditional Georgian style marquee.

Wedding Reception

The marquee played host to Mairéad and George’s reception, overlooking the stunning gardens. It was a scorcher of a day and I got some lovely confetti walking shots of the couple before drinks and canapés were served. You’re certainly spoilt for choice with regards to food here. The Walled Garden’s in-house catering team can provide you with a traditional sit down meal ( which Mairéad and George chose), afternoon tea, a table carvery or British barbeque, all equally superb. Once the meal and the emotional speeches were over, I headed into the gardens with the newlyweds for some romantic pictures. It was then time for the evening party to get under way. Alongside the dancing, guests enjoyed having caricature portraits done of themselves by the fantastic Beefy which went down a storm.

Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel Wedding | Megan & Neville

Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel Wedding Photography

I always love the relaxed atmosphere at the Old Vicarage, a lovely little boutique hotel, nestled in the village of Southwell in Nottinghamshire. Personally I reckon it is one of Nottinghamshire’s hidden gems and I am always pleased to return there. So when Megan and Neville contacted me about being their Nottingham wedding photographer, I was excited that they had chosen The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel as their venue, a mere hop skip and a jump from where I live.

Old Vicarage Wedding Venue

The super friendly and dedicated team at The Old Vicarage are on hand to ensure that weddings run smoothly with every last detail taken care of. They are passionate about tailoring each wedding and making each unique and special. This stunning venue is perfect for those who are looking for a more intimate ceremony with exclusive use of the grounds. The Old Vicarage is set in idyllic gardens. Outdoor ceremonies are held in the impressive purpose built bandstand which provides a beautiful backdrop.

Wedding Preparations

Megan and Neville chose to have their spring wedding inside the venue itself. The rooms are stunning and beautifully decorated with large windows ensuring plenty of natural light for capturing beautiful photographs. Megan got ready in the spacious bridal suite, again tastefully decorated. I got some lovely shots of Megan and her five bridesmaids as they prepared for the ceremony. They were all in good spirits and super chilled which always makes for great pictures.

Wedding Ceremony

The bride was walked down the aisle by her younger brother as Neville waited patiently for her to join him. After the ceremony I got some great confetti shots at the front of the house and then of course portraits of the happy couple on the famous Old Vicarage garden swing - another aspect that makes this venue so unique. After a fabulous meal prepared by the in house chefs, guests enjoyed the warm evening air outdoors before the party got into full swing with plenty of dancing and good vibes!

Your Old Vicarage Wedding

If you have booked your own wedding at The Old Vicarage in Southwell or any other of Nottinghamshires amazing venues and still need a wedding photographer please don’t hesitate to get in contact, I would love to hear from you.

Here are a few pictures of the day, enjoy!

Swancar Farm Wedding Photography | Kate & Dave

Swancar Farm Wedding Photographer - Kate & Dave’s wedding photographs

A warm and sunny day at Swancar Farm greeted me for Kate and Dave’s wedding. Swancar Farm Country House sits in rolling countryside near Trowell and is easily reached from both Nottingham and Derby. As a Nottingham wedding photographer, I always enjoy the short trip over to Swancar, a timeless venue that exudes character and romance and only 15 minutes from Nottingham city centre. With its barn style reception hall, stunning gardens and pretty courtyard space, Swancar is becoming an increasingly popular venue for weddings. As you begin to make your way up the sweeping drive towards the exclusive and private estate, you know you are approaching something special.

Swancar Farm Wedding Venue

Swancar offers a self contained private cottage within its grounds - The Old Stables. This is where I first joined Kate. Kate and her bridesmaids were in high spirits and had spent the previous night here in the pretty cottage. We then moved over to the bridal suite for final bridal preparations where the excitement and good vibes continued. It was then time for the main event.

Wedding Ceremony

Kate and Dave chose to hold their ceremony in the glass barn, the latest addition to Swancar, built just off the lower barn. Kate’s dad proudly walked her down the aisle into this light and airy stunning space. After the ceremony it was out into the courtyard for canapés, drinks and their confetti walk.

A few family pictures on the front lawns were followed by stylish portraits of the newly weds in the beautiful surroundings of Swancar.

We then joined the rest of the wedding party and guests in the great hall for the speeches and wedding breakfast. After cutting of the cake and first dance, it was time to party - The Great Hall providing the perfect space for this. A great wedding in a great venue.
